Dana Point

Dana Point Harbor is a man-made harbor that was named after the author of "Two Year's Before the Mast", Richard Henry Dana Jr. The harbor is divided into the East and West Basin, both of which operate as a separate marina. The harbor hosts 50 guest slips for travelers passing through, Adventura Sailing Association, Dana Point Yacht Club, and Dana West Yacht Club. Seaport shopping and restaurants are also located in the harbor at Mariner's Village and Dana Wharf.

For cruisers, there is an abundance of marine activity in the mornings off the coast and spectacular views. North of Dana Point is Laguna Beach and San Capistrano is to the South. For racers, Dana Point Yacht Club sponsors a competitive intermediate to advanced racing series throughout the year with windward/leewards, short-distance legs, and long-distance legs starting in Long Beach, Seal Beach, and Newport Beach.

Winds tend to be light in the mornings, but it usually picks up in the afternoon after 11am. The winds average between 8-12mph out of the W, SW, WSW. Swells range between 1-3 feet on average.
